Health will address the regulation of e-cigarette community
The next Inter-Territorial Council of the National Health System, the top-level meeting between communities and Ministry of Health, will address the controversial regulation of electronic cigarettes. This Wednesday is expected to discuss how it should be rules governing the sale and consumption, currently in limbo despite numerous requests from various organizations and political groups.
These devices - powered by a small electric heater inside it , pressing a button, heats a fluid to generate steam aspirational - can be sold anywhere and can be purchased minors . The group CiU in Congress unveiled last response from the Ministry of Health in which it defends and regulate these products equate to snuff week.
The Government acknowledges in its response that are " considered problematic products having not been evaluated by the authorities in any country." The World Health Organization (WHO ) advises against using " until there is data showing that they are safe, effective and of acceptable quality products , and this is certified by a competent national regulatory authority ."
Already last month the Minister of Health , Social Policy and Equality , Ana Mato said in an interview on TVE breakfasts that Spain was working with the European Union in the future legislative framework to regulate electronic cigarettes. "Right now there was a debate on this throne ," he said , but did not clarify whether the rule would go into the same line as in Catalonia, which has decided to match the electronic cigarette with the provisions of the current smoking ban . "You have to see it, some people consider it a drug other consumer product and other product of snuff in the end the important thing is to find a balance and do it in all the countries of the European Union alike ," noted then.
According to the response to CiU, the Government has decided to take the same path as Catalonia, who did not want to wait for the EU and the Ministry governing this product and is ahead . The Government has announced that it will ban the use of electronic cigarettes in all areas ( including schools ) , and in public hospitals and primary care.
A few days after the announcement of Catalonia, Andalusia also added to the regulation of electronic cigarettes. The Health forward its intention to ban the use of electronic cigarettes on health and education facilities and the proposed agreement to the Governing Board to order its regulation.
